Coronavirus Special Measures

Pine Marten Breaks

The following conditions will apply to guests visiting for a Pine Marten Break on a bed and breakfast basis only:

All visitors will be asked to fill in an amended booking form 48 hours prior to arrival, which will include a statement confirming that they are not showing any signs of Covid-19, are not in isolation and have not knowingly been in contact with anyone infected in the last 7 days.

  1.  Visitors will be expected to have paid in full prior to arrival by bank transfer or credit card.
  2.  Visitor numbers will be limited to 4 at any one time (or up to 6 in a socially isolated group, defined as families or friends who are in the same isolation ‘bubble’ that are already in contact with each other).
  3.  Rooms will be thoroughly cleaned between guests and will remain vacant for a minimum of 24 hours between occupants.
  4.  To prevent unnecessary contact whilst here, housekeeping will be kept to a minimum (i.e. bins emptied and rooms ventilated, but beds not made, or bathrooms cleaned)
  5.  Guests will be asked to use sanitiser each time they enter the building, before entering the reception area, and also as they leave. Please also use the hand sanitiser provided on entering and leaving the dining room.
  6.  All guests will be expected to adhere to socially distancing guidelines whilst in the Lodge (currently 2m indoors under Scottish recommendations). Furniture will have been repositioned to allow you to achieve this in comfort.
  7.  A welcome tray will be provided in the room rather than drinks and cake served in the sun lounge, although guests are welcome to eat and drink in the Sun Lounge.
  8.  Breakfasts will need to be ordered in advance through a menu system (there will not be any buffet options).
  9.  In the dining room social distancing must be maintained and your host will wear a face mask and protective gloves whilst serving.
  10.  In the event of any need for Glenloy Wildlife staff (i.e. Jon or Angela) to isolate because of coronavirus we reserve the right to cancel holidays at short notice. Any payments will be fully refunded, or the holiday postponed to a later date.

Bespoke Holidays

These exclusive holidays are available as fully inclusive breaks for a maximum of 6 people in a single socially isolated group for up to 5 nights. The only other people you would need to have any contact with would be Jon or Angela (socially distanced, of course).

All conditions and measures listed under Pine Marten Breaks will also apply to guests on a Bespoke Holiday, with the following additions:

  1.  Travel in a minibus is permitted with reduced social distancing of 1m, providing that face masks are worn whilst travelling in the vehicle. No guests will be permitted to sit next to the driver.
  2.  Guests are requested to keep their own personal belongings with them in the minibus, as far as possible, so that these are not mixed with ours or other people’s stuff in the vehicle.
  3.  Guests will be required to bring their own hand sanitiser and face masks for personal use, but we will carry spares in case of need.
  4.  In the event of first aid being required, guests might be requested to assist with the care of their own party under the supervision of staff. If this is not possible, care will be administered using PPE as far as possible.
  5.  Whilst watching wildlife outdoors a distance of 1m from staff must be kept at all times.
  6.  Guests are requested to bring their own binoculars and telescopes, as our own optical equipment cannot be shared between guests, unfortunately.
  7.  Guests are asked to bring their own water bottles, which can be refilled from taps in the bedrooms. We can provide a clean, re-usable bottle, if necessary.
  8.  A packed lunch will be provided as per usual, but these will be individually packaged and agreed in advance. Your hosts will wear masks and gloves whilst serving hot drinks and distributing food.
  9.  Guests are asked to use the hand sanitiser provided on leaving the Lodge before entering the minibus and again on entry to the Lodge after leaving the minibus, and also to ensure that hands are properly washed or sanitised before returning to the minibus if using public facilities whilst out on a trip.

Scheduled Holidays

We look forward to welcoming back guests on 4 or 7-day holiday breaks, but in order to operate safely some amendments will have to be made. In order to allow social distancing in the dining room and whilst in the minibus, numbers of guests will be restricted to 4 (with a maximum of 6 if family groups or social bubbles, as above, are present).

The conditions that apply to visitors on Pine Marten Breaks and Bespoke Holidays also apply to those guests on a scheduled holiday, with the following additions:

  1.  We appreciate that guests might be reluctant to use public transport, but we will still be happy to pick people up from the bus or train in Fort William, observing the protocols for minibus usage outlined below.
  2.  To prevent unnecessary contact whilst here, housekeeping will be kept to a minimum (i.e. bins emptied, any necessary replacements provided and rooms ventilated, but beds not made, or bathrooms cleaned).
  3.  Non-related guests must maintain social distancing in the minibus and unfortunately remain in the same seats for the duration of the holiday.
  4.  If at all possible, we like to include at least one boat trip in a scheduled week-long holiday. As the operation of boat tours and ferries is out with our control, however, it may not be practical to include these. In which case we will discuss this with guests and arrange suitable alternatives.
  5.  Any guest already booked on a holiday that is not happy with the necessary amendments or indeed does not feel comfortable about travelling at present is welcome to postpone their holiday at no further cost until 2021. In the event of postponement not being feasible we will refund deposits.

Day Trips and Non-residential Wildlife Experiences.

Day trips will be available to those staying on a Pine Marten Break subject to the restrictions below. Unfortunately, non-residential experiences will not be available until Phase 4 of the Scottish Government recovery programme.

  1.  Travel in a minibus is permitted with reduced socially distancing of 1m, providing that face masks are worn whilst travelling in the vehicle.
  5.  Non-related guests must maintain social distancing in the minibus and unfortunately remain in the same seats for the duration of the trip.
  6.  Whilst watching wildlife outdoors a distance of 1m from staff must be kept at all times.
  7.  Guests are requested to bring their own binoculars and telescopes, as our own optical equipment cannot be shared between guests, unfortunately.
  8.  Guests are asked to bring their own water bottles, which can be refilled from taps in the bedrooms. We can provide a clean, re-usable bottle, if necessary.
  9.  A packed lunch will be provided as per usual, but these will be individually packaged and agreed in advance. Your hosts will wear masks and gloves whilst serving hot drinks and distributing food.
  10.  Guests are asked to use the hand sanitiser provided on leaving the Lodge before entering the minibus and again on entry to the Lodge after leaving the minibus, and also to ensure that hands are properly washed or sanitised before returning to the minibus if using public facilities whilst out on a trip.
